The 2026 awards, one of the most competitive ever, shone a light on work that will define place management and shape public policy.

Take Rochdale Town Centre BID's win, for example. The partnership approach to dealing with the illicit use of high street stores is a forerunner to action being taken by the Home Office to tackle the problem just this week (see here).

Or, there is Rotherham's award for Best Culture and Arts Scheme for the co-creation of the world's first Children's Capital of Culture. This was embraced by hundreds of thousands of children participating in events and activities. as discussions around youth engagement dominate the headlines.

ATCM CEO, Ojay McDonald, said:

"What fantastic schemes! It's delightful to see so much work that is supporting businesses, creating better places, and making meaningful interventions in people's lives. The passion and commitment of this industry is extraordinary. Huge congratulations to all for their contributions regardless of whether they won on the night."

The Town and City Management Industry Awards is also an opportunity to recognise the work of our Purple Flag locations with Belfast, Bristol, Chelmsford, Halifax Calderdale, Leicester and York all retaining the status, while Bishop's Stortford joined the family.
