The 2024 Summer School and TCMI Awards Opens for Bookings

ATCM’s flagship annual event, Summer School, is open for bookings. The two day event will take place in Glasgow City Centre and will include keynote presentations from industry leaders, panel debates, interactive sessions, study tours, networking opportunities, social gatherings and the Town and City Management Industry Awards.

Innovation in Town and City Climate Action

‘Innovation in Town and City Climate Action’ will explore the role of place management in supporting environmental sustainability and business resilience. We intend to cover a number of important issues including:

• Engaging businesses in the net zero journey
• Town centre resilience to extreme weather events
• The 15 minute city
• The role of local authorities once a climate emergency has been declared

Shake Up for 2024
With so much happening across the industry, we are determined to keep things fresh. Therefore, we have a few changes to announce for this year’s conference.

Firstly, we are changing the format. To accommodate the need for members to discuss best practice and engage in peer-to-peer networking, we are doubling the number of interactive sessions. This will give us the ability to fully explore theme in detail with rich practitioner conversations that will lead to improved local climate action.

To accommodate this, we will move the study tours to the afternoon of day one (19th June) and the interactive sessions to day 2.

Secondly, to expand the range of delegates at the conference for better conversations, we are working in partnership with Scotland’s Towns Partnerships, Revo and DLUHC in addition to members Glasgow City Council. We expect excellent networking opportunities for all who attend.

Town and City Management Industry Awards 2024 will Return

Summer School 2024 will, once again, include the Town and City Management Industry Awards Dinner. These will be held at the Marriott in Glasgow city centre on the evening of the 19 June. The Awards Dinner will include Round 39 of the Purple Flag Awards.

Its not just the main conference that is changing. We are also tweaking the Town and City Management Industry Awards as well. As of 2024, we are excited to launch the Climate Action Award for the place management industry. This will celebrate the very best contributions to sustainability across the industry. In addition to this, the awards will take time to reflect on 20 years of BIDs.
