Lichfield Joins the Purple Flag Family
16 destinations across the UK and Ireland celebrate accreditation in Purple Flag month
ATCM is delighted to announce that Lichfield has achieved Purple Flag status for the first time. They were joined by Cambridge, Chippenham, Cork, Dublin, Ennis, Leicester Square, Plymouth, St Helens, Wigan and Worcester, who all submitted successful full renewal submissions.

Aberdeen, Altrincham, Bournemouth, Colchester, and Waterford were all successful with their interim renewals.
Round 40 of the Purple Flag Awards was hosted by Cambridge with representation from the BID, BCRP, City Council, Police and business community.
Ojay McDonald, CEO of ATCM, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Lichfield to the Purple Flag family. The effort put in by the partnership should be applauded.

There are now just under 100 areas globally, including locations like Australia, Sweden and Malta, who are proudly flying the Purple Flag after working hard to gain the accreditation. It is a pleasure to celebrate their success, and I wish to personally congratulate the areas on their hard work in developing safe, vibrant and diverse evening and night time offers.”
The Purple Flag Awards coincide with a positive mention on the BBC's long running show Crimewatch, courtesy of retired Licensing Sergeant Dave Moore of the Devon & Cornwall Police, as a tool for delivering a safe night time economy. In addition to this was news that some Stagecoach buses in the East of England will contribute to efforts to provide safe spaces for vulnerable women and girls, carrying the Purple Flag logo (see news article here).

This round of celebrations also aligns with Purple Flag Month, offering a chance for all our areas to come together and showcase their achievements within the accreditation. As we step into the golden quarter, it’s a fantastic opportunity to energise and uplift our evening and nighttime economies
