Bradford Joins the Purple Flag Family
20 destinations across the UK and Ireland celebrate accreditation

ATCM is delighted to announce that Bradford, UK City of Culture 2025, has achieved Purple Flag status for the first time. They join Cardiff, Carrick-on-Shannon, Galway, Liverpool, Salthill, Sheffield, Sligo, Southampton, Southend-on-Sea, and Stockport, all of whom successfully submitted full renewal applications. Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Barnsley, Belfast, Chelmsford, Chester, Darlington, Drogheda, Leicester, and Nottingham were also successful in their interim renewals.

Ojay McDonald, CEO of ATCM, said:
"I wish to personally congratulate these areas on all their hard work in developing safe, vibrant, and diverse evening and night-time offers—achieved through strong partnerships working together to develop local night-time strategies. They are the reason why there is so much growing international interest in Purple Flag with accredited destinations in Sweden, Malta, New Zealand and Australia, plus strong interest from some of Asia's big cities with a vibrant cultural offering. Congratulations to all the accredited centres.”
This marks the first round of Purple Flag celebrations in 2025, setting the stage for an exciting year ahead. As we honour these outstanding achievements, we also look forward to incredible opportunities to inspire, energise, and elevate our evening and night-time economies.
