The Race to Zero

Things are about to change.

A combination of extreme weather events, Glasgow’s hosting of COP26, and a new report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report underlining the perilous position society finds itself means the climate emergency is moving into a new phase. It is very likely now to become the key focus for all towns and cities across the UK and Ireland for years to come.

What is clear is that the built environment is both a significant contributor to, and is heavily exposed to man made extreme weather events. What is also clear is that prevent a catastrophe, the transitions to a net zero economy needs to begin now.

The first session of High Street Conversations following the Summer break sees ATCM tackle the next big global issue after COVID-19. We will discuss the findings of the IPCC report, what it means and outline what our members can do now to begin the transition to a net zero economy.
