For years, the general trajectory has been to view the night time economy through the lens of regulation and control, especially at a local level. However, with real concerns over the decimation of the sector during lockdown and long standing issues around the growth of residential, are some policy-makers starting to appreciate the need to protect and grow the night time economy.

This Purple Flag Forum will discuss a shift in licensing in key Purple Flag countries, Australia (NSW), Ireland, England and Wales, and ask whether we are beginning to change focus from regulation to vibrancy. We’ll be joined by Sylvia Oates, Chief Executive of Six till Six and member of the Licensing Taskforce for England and Wales, who will share insights and recommendations from the group’s work.
