About the Event
There is an undeniable shift happening. Town and city centres, for so long the hubs of commerce, are under pressure to embrace residential.
For decades, mixed use centres where commercial and residential happily co-exist have been a long held desire for many place-makers. In recent years, as an over-supply of commercial space collides with a housing supply crisis, this desire has evolved to an urgent need. Despite this, making housing work in town and city centres is far from easy.
For some towns, the transition is problematic and hard to achieve. For others, this transition may not be possible at all which creates its own problems. In every town, more housing and less commercial would come with important questions around funding and the role of the place management industry.
We need to talk about housing!
The 2024 Place Management Conference will explore the future of UK and Irish town and city centres in the context of the housing supply crisis. We will ask crucial questions on how we get the right balance between the two, what this shift means for the provision for place management services and what this means for the funding models we rely on. Bookings to open on the 1st September. Agenda details to become available in due course.
This event has been structured to offer excellent value given the funding pressures for many members. The venue is walking distant from Euston and Kings Cross rail stations, and is a relatively late start to help some avoid having to pay for overnight accommodation. There is both a standard discount for members (£125+VAT pp) and an additional group discount for members who bring two delegates or more (£99+VAT pp).
For those wanting to pay via invoice contact the ATCM Membership Manager, Karen Shields, at Karen.Shields@atcm.org.
