About the Event
Communities are divided. And the resulting societal tensions too often manifest in our shared spaces. How can we break the false walls of social media and overcome polarisation in the way we shape our high streets, town centres and city centres?
Summer School 2026 will be an in-depth exploration into how we create spaces which help build community cohesion and deliver an environment which compels citizens to dwell. ‘The Social High Street’ will study how we provide the building blocks for strong social connections, good health and play. Through the lens of wellbeing, neuro-science and inclusive place-making we will investigate how we create communal environments that keep people happy and healthy.
Once again, this two day event will be a mix of keynotes talks, study tours and workshops. It will also include the Round 45 of the Purple Flag Awards and the 2026 Town and City Management Industry Awards.
