It is another record-breaking year for extreme weather. With high Summer temperatures across Europe leading to droughts, wildfires and pressures on public health agencies and emergency responders. There are concerns that the long-term economic damage could run into the billions.

What is the long-term economic fallout of the series of heatwaves experienced across the UK and Ireland? And, what is the impact on local economies specifically? Has the sunshine brought people out into town centres? Has it kept them away? Or, has there been relatively little change in the number of visits, but instead a shift in the type of visits with spending and activities shifting in the warm weather?
