About the Event

As part of this year's Summer School we are delighted to offer you the chance to join the following study tours for the afternoon of Day 1 of the conference.

Discover Glasgow with your own local guide!

Explore Glasgow on foot, spend quality time with a local and get a real taste for this beautiful city. Choose from two walking tours that we have on offer:

City Centre Tour

The friendliest city in the world, Glasgow has a turbulent history that has shaped it into the vibrant city you see today. Join us for an authentic insight into modern life throughout the city and spot little-known treasures along the way!

Explore key sights in Glasgow City Centre, with an expert, local guide on a 1.5 hour tour. You will be immersed in the sights and sounds of the city as you travel back centuries to discover Glasgow’s dark and unique history: from cathedrals to street art, cities of the dead to Dr Who, there is something for everyone on this city centre tour!

The tour includes a visit to:

  • George Square
  • Glasgow Cathedral & Necropolis
  • Iconic Street Art
  • The Duke of Wellington (and hopefully the cone on his head!)
  • And many hidden treasures you wouldn’t find by yourself!

Street Art Tour

Immerse yourself in a different side to Glasgow on this unique street art and modern culture tour. On this 1.5 hour walk there’s no cathedrals, grand buildings or monuments, you will experience the real Glasgow. You’ll meander down alleys and under bridges to uncover some of the city’s most beautiful pieces of art that are taking over the walls by storm. All with a local, expert guide.

From world-renowned heroes to local artists you’ll hear the stories and inspiration behind each piece whilst learning about how the art scene in Glasgow has developed dramatically over the last decade and beyond.

Not only that, you will also hear about modern life in the city today, it’s nightlife, creative industries and much more. The vibrancy of Glasgow is just waiting to be explored and is something you shouldn’t miss out on during your trip to this cultural powerhouse.

Among the 10+ murals you will see include:

  • ‘Fellow Glasgow Residents’ – Smug
  • ‘The World’s Most Economical Taxi’ – RogueOne
  • The Rebel Bear paste up
  • Billy Connelly Murals (2 out of 3)
  • Broomielaw Illegal Wall
