About the Event
It's time for a renaissance. In the shadow of a chaotic economic environment, the place management industry needs to rise to the challenge of reactivation and rediscovery.
The first 3 years of the new decade meant huge debt accumulation for some high street businesses and permanent closures for others. Public services are being pushed to the brink and the cost of borrowing means landlords are under pressure when it comes to financing their assets. The pandemic and the cost of living crisis mark one of the darkest periods for town centres in the post-war period.
We need to bounce back. The place management industry needs to lead the charge, triggering a rebirth of local economies through innovative solutions to grow new high street businesses, find new uses for property, bring life back to the public realm and rebuild confidence for communities and investors alike.
‘Reactivation / Rediscovery’ is the theme for the 2023 ATCM Summer School. This event will take place in the heart of Leicester City Centre and will undertake a contemporary exploration of revitalisation post-pandemic as we grapple with significant falls in living standards.
