About the Event
With tax rises of £40 billion over five years, the UK Budget underlines the need for government to raise revenue to invest in public services. The same pressures apply to devolved and local government. And for some areas, the option to raise revenue without increasing costs for voters could be too tempting to resist. It is why there are rising concerns that the tourism tax will be used to plug funding gaps for the public sector.
This meeting of ATCM Scotland will explore the implications of a tourism tax and whether such a tax is in the best interests of the visitor economy. This meeting is open to others across the UK who are interested or concerned about the introduction of a tourism tax.
