ATCM North West: Managing the Streetscape

Town and city centres, by their nature, attract high levels of footfall. However, does their popularity as destinations for commerce and community bring other pressures? Are high streets victims of their own success?

Pedlars, anti-social behaviour, nuisance begging, rough sleeping, food delivery related micro-mobility and a range of other issues all contribute to a difficult streetscape which is off-putting to other users. How can councils and BIDs shape a more welcoming environment for all? What additional powers do strategic authorities, local authorities, town councils, and BIDs need to deliver effective street operations?

This ATCM North West meeting will include a tour of Manchester City Centre to explore key street management issues. And, on the doorstep of No 10 North, we will also discuss the latest on public policy including a look forward to the Autumn Budget.
