ATCM NI: Supporting High Streets (Policy and Practice)

It’s been a challenging winter.

The cost of living crisis has made life difficult for town centre businesses with consumers buying less while sales remain high. To make matters worse, absence of a date Stormont’s return is prolonging uncertainty.

The latest challenge to emerge are proposals to raise additional revenue through reductions in business rates relief.  These proposals are out for consultation.

The first ATCM NI meeting of the year will consider support for the high street in both policy and practice. We will go through the relevant parts of the consultation from the NI Executive and we will ask what members are doing to support businesses through Christmas and Q1 for 2024.
