Are town centres becoming a political priority?

Whether it’s about strengthening the local economy, improving service provision, enhancing sustainability or using the benefit of shared space to overcome the challenges of polarisation, we know town centres matter. Do recent developments both north and south of the border suggest that policy-makers are on the same page? And if so, how do we use this momentum to create great places?

This joint meeting of ATCM Ireland and Northern Ireland will discuss Town Centres First policy (Ireland) and the Shaping Sustainable Places regeneration programme (Northern Ireland) and discuss the potential opportunities of both. We will explore how both underline town centres as being a political priority and how we can benefit in the longer-term.

We will also discuss the on-going work to improve connectivity between centres in the East of the island of Ireland.
