Chief Operating Officer, Bournemouth Town Centre BID
We are looking for an outstanding candidate for the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer at the Bournemouth Town Centre Business Improvement District. This is a not for profit company financed by more than 700 Town Centre businesses.
The BID has just been voted back in by town centre businesses and has an ambitious business plan to drive the town centre forward over the next five years. We are now looking to appoint an experienced business leader with excellent communication skills to deliver the plan which aims to significantly raise the town centre’s profile and meet its ambitions of improving the trading environment of the town centre.
The position offers an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the town centre at a time of substantial investment, with a number of multi million pound development projects underway and more in the pipeline.
Responsible to a voluntary board of business representatives and the members of the BID, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced manager, ideally with a track record of developing business relationships and partnership working.
You will have the experience and confidence to champion the company’s activities to a wide and varied audience, whether that be in one to one meetings with chief executives and other key stakeholders, or delivering a presentation to a group of business managers and owners. You will need to demonstrate budgetary and line manager experience and experience of working and communicating at board level would be highly desirable. A knowledge and understanding of the challenges faced by retailers and leisure operators and the changing nature of town and city centres would also be advantageous. You will be responsible for controlling the deployment of a budget of £625,000pa and managing and directing a team of 8 employees.
This unique role has all the challenges associated with running a business and carries a salary and package commensurate with the breadth of the role.
