  • Job Title: Manager St Albans BID

  • Salary: £42,500-£47,500 commensurate with experience.

  • Responsible to:  BID Board 

  • Direct Reports: Operations Executive and External Contractors as otherwise instructed by the BID Board.

  • Holiday: 28 days Annual Leave including Public Holidays (negotiable)

  • Hours: Full time; Office-based and office working hours with occasional evening events and weekends.

About the Role
Reporting into the St Albans BID Board, we are looking for a tenacious individual to lead on the successful development of our BID - someone who can combine effective contract management knowledge, strong business acumen with an enjoyment of working with a range of stakeholders, promoting the BID as an organisation and who can manage a small team and/or work in harmony with external BID management contractors. This full-time opportunity will suit someone who is up for a challenge and who will relish the opportunity to work with others to make a difference

We are the Business Improvement District (BID) for St Albans City Centre – well known as a desirable location and a City of Excellence for Professional Services. Our work is far reaching to ensure this vibrant area is a great place for the people working here, living here or visiting. We are a not-for-profit funded by our levy payers, sponsorship, donations, associated membership and grants. Everything we do is focused on improving St Albans city centre and promoting St Albans and the District. 

We provide a strong coordinated voice for businesses in the area on policy, plans and other matters affecting the local environment.  Our other programme areas include B2B and B2C promotion, public and member events.  
 
We have a proven track record of making real improvements to the area for business and for all.  You will be joining the BID at an exciting time, the start of our second Term.

Person Specification
We are looking for a talented, experienced individual who has proven and effective people skills, a proactive and progressive approach, experience of working with private and public sector organisations and strong contract/project management experience combined with first-hand knowledge of business operations and sound financial understanding. Crucially a team player, who will implement the board strategy, work strategically while also enjoying being hands on, is up for a challenge and wants to make a difference.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience of having worked in a similar partnership/membership or multi-agency organisations at a senior level.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience to meet the requirements of the post 

  • The required level of experience is likely to have been gained through a minimum five years’ experience

  • Strong and proven contract and project management experience, demonstrated through delivery of successful projects involving external contracted parties

  • Ability to build and maintain effective engagement relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and suppliers at all levels

  • Experience of working with local authorities, police, highways and transportation is desirable

  • A business mindset with sound understanding of financial plans and budgets

  • Experience building and managing a team of paid and volunteer staff. 

  • A proactive approach and ability to think identify key issues and to creatively problem solve.

  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector and fundraising a plus.
