Job Title: BID Manager

Responsible To: Chair

Responsible For: Staff Team, Consultants & Contractors

Application Deadline: 3rd January 2020

Interviews: 16th January 2020

Duration: Fixed term contract to 28 February 2024 (Probationary period of six months)

Salary: Circa £45K (depending on experience with eligibility for contributory pension scheme

Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week (with regular flexible hours to include evening, weekend and occasional bank holidays)

Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays.

Job Function: To provide day-to-day management and leadership of BID Company, working in association with all town centre agencies and service providers. The BID Manager will ensure that the BID Business Plan is delivered in a professional, accountable and cost effective manner.

 

Background

Harrogate is a unique and special town, which boasts attractions other town centres do not possess. It is, however, not immune from the modern challenges which face all our towns and cities and needs constantly to review and develop its offer so as to maintain and improve its attraction. Businesses recently voted to set up a BID to manage the town centre and the BID board is now looking for an exceptional person to run the organisation. We are looking for someone with the enthusiasm, entrepreneurial drive and initiative to lead in the delivery of our business plan.

 

In anticipation of raising c. £3m over 5 years from the BID levy, the BID is aiming to undertake projects planned around 5 key themes:

 

1. Marketing, promotions & events

2. Access & car parking

3. Safe, clean & welcoming

4. Business plus

5. Evening & night-time economy

 

This high profile and challenging post will suit someone with a real passion for making things happen. Working with a small team and an active board, the successful candidate will develop and deliver a variety of projects and services, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure that successes are widely promoted. A high level of inter-personal, communication, tact, diplomacy and project management skills are required.
