Salary: £45k negotiated depending on experience

ROLE SUMMARY

We have an opportunity for an outstanding candidate to take on a unique role as a City Centre Manager/Ambassador to work with the St Albans BID Board to deliver the strategic plan, in consultation with key stakeholders, including the manager, to support our city centre businesses.   
 
The ideal candidate will be passionate about St Albans, be out and about on the ground in the city, working closely in partnership with levy payers, St Albans District Council, the Chamber of Commerce, our Cathedral, City of Expertise and other stakeholders with the overall aim of increasing footfall and increased resident and visitor spend within the city centre.    
 
A strong commercial background, with experience in tourism, hospitality, marketing and commercial real estate is desirable with good strategic management, resource management and a customer service focus. 
 
You will be responsible for delivering a programme for 2020 and beyond which will include vibrant street scene - working with the appropriate third parties, including the local authority as applicable, on service level agreements for flowers, banners, furniture, shop wrapping, programming of events and fringe business, art and cultural events, marketing and promotion of the city locally (shop local), nationally and internationally, looking at the potential of short term leasing and subleasing of empty shops for incubator businesses and working with the local and regional authorities and stakeholders on a destination management plan.   
 
You will also be responsible, working with the Board, Council and other key stakeholders for delivering a plan for a successful renewal, including recommendations on piloting a Community Improvement District.
 
Reporting to the Board, you will be responsible for the day to day management oversight of a small management team, ad hoc contractors and the development of a volunteer pool, as needed.   You will also be responsible for the prudent management and spend of the BID levy on projects approved by the Board or applicable Board subcommittee in accordance with the internal delegations, as well as leveraging additional sponsor to maximise return on investment.  Financial and KPI reporting and meetings with the Board will be required (at least monthly).
