Martin Blackwell stepping down as CEO at the ATCM

14 October 2014

After 10 years at the Association of Town & City Management (ATCM) it has been announced that Martin Blackwell is standing down as Chief Executive.  Martin joined as Development Director in 2004 and has been Chief Executive since July 2010. As a former TCM himself, he worked towards gaining clear recognition of importance of Place Management in all its forms.

Martin was instrumental in developing the ATCM into the organisation as we know it today, which is a unique institution, which is the largest organisation of its kind in the world.  ATCM has, over the past few years, evolved into an influential voice for the town and city management community, and as a widely respected authority on policy, innovator of research and best practice with examples of partnership working and cross sector engagement.

Martin said, “As a former Town Centre Manager myself, it has been a great privilege to lead this organisation, made wonderful by the people in it – staff and members.  Of the latter there are many that I have come to know as friends, doing a fantastic job for their communities.  My thanks go to everyone who it has been my pleasure to work with and for over the past decade.”

Martin has been appointed as the CEO of the Charity Retail Association, a position he takes up in the New Year.
