High Street Conversations: High Streets After School

High streets with high schools in close proximity face a challenge during the afternoon - the flood of kids occupying the town centre, often with very little to do.

For many businesses, this is a problem. The abundance of kids leads to fears of crime and anti-social behaviour and can be off-putting for the customers they rely on. But, could we turn this into an opportunity to engage a key stakeholder so they become a future asset to the high street?

This session of High Street Conversations will explore work between Canterbury BID, the Home Office and the police to provide activities in the city centre that proactively engage young kids after school. We will hear about the learnings and the potential benefits to those kids and the business community.
