Adapting to New Mobility
Time & Location
About the Event
The race is on. In 2017 across the EU, road transport was estimated be responsible for 72% of total greenhouse gas emissions from transport. How we use our roads is currently not sustainable. With global surface temperatures rising and pressure on governments to drastically cut emissions, time might be up for fossil fuel powered mobility.
However, with change comes challenges of adapting to new mobility. Whether its greater provision of public transport, active travel or the growth of private, electric vehicles such as e-bikes, e-scooters and EVs. At a local level, these new modes of mobility need to be understood and managed.
This session of the ATCM Cities Group will explore how mobility is evolving and take an initial look at challenges of new forms of mobility. This will open up a broader conversation about the changing role of transport for cities as we strive for carbon neutrality.
