The Employer
The Greater London Authority is currently looking for a Policy Officer to join its 24-Hour London team. They are looking for a member of staff to join them for four months, from September to Christmas to work with the Night Czar and her 24-Hour London team. As part of the COVID-19 Recovery Missions for London, you’ll be developing Night-Time Enterprise Zones to extend high street opening hours and boost the economy after 6pm. You’ll be supporting the Women’s Night Safety Charter to make London a city where more women feel safe and welcomed at night. You’ll be supporting venues and night time businesses. You’ll work closely with local authorities and business improvement districts on world-leading night-time strategies. And you’ll help run the Night Czar’s Night Surgeries and Night-Time Champions events.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
Provide policy and research support
Support in developing and helping boroughs implement strategies.
Collect and analyse data to demonstrate the impact of the 24 Hour London programme.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships and use the organisation’s convening power and influence to achieve the objectives of the programme.
Support the planning and delivery of events and engagement activity.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Experience of building and managing relationships, particularly with local authorities and business groups
Experience of relevant policy and political issues, particularly relating to high street regeneration; jobs and business support; culture and creative industries; safety; transport and sustainability
Experience of developing public policy
Experience of planning, commissioning, and delivering research
Experience preparing briefings for a wide range of partners
Proven track record in managing formal meetings
Ability to gather relevant data from numerous sources
What You'll Get in Return
This is an interim role for 4 months, full-time, paying £25.85/hour PAYE Premium or £29.22/hour if paid via an Umbrella Company. The role’s working hours are during the day, Monday to Friday. The role is being recruited via Hays Recruitment.
Payments via an Umbrella Company can only be made if the company is registered on Hays’ Preferred Supplier List, FCSA accredited and fully vetted by Hays’ Compliance and Legal teams.
