BLACKPOOL'S BIDS ARE RECRUITING A MANAGING DIRECTOR

Deadline for Applications: 9am, 1st December 2021

Location: Blackpool

Job Type: Fixed term until 31st March 2026

Salary: Circa £50k per annum, dependant on experience

Hours: 40 hrs per week, occasional evening and weekend working is required

Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have been operating across the UK for over a decade and there are now approximately 250 BIDs established around the country. Businesses within a BID area contribute to and vote on the adoption of a 5-year Business Plan to address issues and opportunities for the area that they have helped to define.

Blackpool now has two BIDs covering the Tourism areas and the Town Centre. A two-tier governance structure will be implemented with a Strategic Board being established to drive the longer-term ambitions of Blackpool for both its tourism and retail sectors. The Strategic Board would have the primary responsibility of setting the strategic agenda, providing leadership and leveraging investment in support of developing further Blackpool’s visitor economy.

The two individual BIDs will focus on tactical delivery and fulfilment of objectives set out in their specific business plans. As well as providing a strategic approach to Blackpool that will benefit the work of both BIDs, the structure will also help reduce costs by having a single executive management structure. The Managing Director will be an integral role across both BIDs and also the Strategic Board.

The role holder will have a leading role in ensuring that both companies are financially efficient and optimise funding opportunities. The postholder will provide strategic direction and management of Blackpool’s BIDs as well as identifying and achieving the BID's objectives whilst delivering a first-class service to its members to ensure delivery of the 5-year BID business plans. They will encourage and support member engagement (including the Board and project groups) and ensure effective and transparent governance and administration.

The postholder will also provide regular monitoring and reporting of progress against agreed performance indicators to the BID Boards and will be a key representative for the company in the external market.

The salary for this post is competitive and dependent upon the experience and qualifications of the preferred candidate.
