ATCM Awards 2012
NEW THIS YEAR: Cash Prizes!
“Seeing is Believing”
The ATCM Awards for 2012 were launched at our World Café Event in London. The Town Centre Management Awards have been running for many years and showcase the achievements of Town Centre Managers, BID Managers and Partnerships across the UK & Ireland. The awards are instrumental in providing rewards and recognition for the valuable programs being delivered by dedicated professionals to improve our High Streets, Town Centres and Cities in the face of many challenges. They demonstrate very clearly the value that town centre management brings.
The Awards are important because they:
- Showcase the best practices and high standards being achieved
- Recognise the excellent effort by town centre & BID managers
- Acknowledge, give credibility and thank valuable supporting partners from across the public and private sectors
- Attract publicity and media recognition for the community and local area
- Provide a tool to leverage support from additional partners
- Raise the profile of the ATCM with the business community, Government, Councils and the general public as well as providing credibility for Town Centre Management as a Profession.
The Awards demonstrate the broad range of projects that add value not just to Town Centres but also to City Centres, Boroughs and High Streets as well as BIDs, under the banner of ‘Town Centre Management’.
Once again we are using an online entry system, ensuring that submitting an application is a simple and fast process.
The aim again is to focus on key topics including how to build a “Town Team” for the future; recognising excellence in attracting customers to town centres at all times of the day and animating public space. It is important to have projects large and small submitted; how you used resources are far more important than the size of the budget. Judges will be asked to look at how clearly objectives were set, how the project was implemented, who was involved and, critically, how well the measures and objectives achieved?
2012 Awards Categories are:
- Outstanding work by a BID
- The UK’s Best Town Team or Town Centre Partnership
- Animating public space
- Developing the Evening & Night Time Economy
- Improving the Business Mix
In addition, this year the Chairman’s Award is for “Outstanding Achievement” in the field of place management.
Finally, a Lifetime Achievement Award for service to the industry is available for someone who, over at least 10 years, has made significant contributions to the field of Town Centre Management.
Entries are entirely online this year and you can enter NOW. The closing date is 5pm 28th May.
The Awards will be presented at the Awards Dinner at the ATCM Summer School on 3rd July, at Bristol University.

Both during the day and at night with continental markets, night markets and Light Night, “meanwhile” uses and street trading. “Public Space” is so much more that the spaces between buildings. Improving the Business MixThis is a very challenging area of town centre management. This award recognises the project or scheme that has achieved real progress in improving the quality, diversity and distinctiveness of what your centre has to offer. » Enter This Award Category |

“Town Team” or Town Centre PartnershipThis category looks at what effective and active partnerships can deliver. Mary Portas says that a “Town Team” should be, “a visionary, strategic and strong operational management team for high streets.” Developing shared visions, strategies and action plans for a centre are vital steps in ensuring its vitality and viability. This award recognises the management initiative that demonstrates excellence in strategy and implementation or successful outcomes in one or more of these areas. If you are proud of your achievements, and can demonstrate measurable and positive outcomes, then tell us about it! » Enter This Award Category |
